Eastern News Review

About

Eastern News Review is an English-language publication about reading regional news with care. It looks at how reports use sources, frame local issues, move through newsrooms and reach audiences. It is for readers who want to understand the construction and limits of a report without being told what to think about an issue.

What we examine

Our coverage focuses on the working parts of reporting: attribution, headlines, captions, newsroom roles, circulation and context. We explain why those choices matter to a reader, and distinguish what a report states from what it demonstrates. We do not treat a headline as a substitute for the underlying account.

Who it is for

The publication is for curious readers, students and anyone who encounters regional reports and wants a clearer way to assess them. You do not need a newsroom background. We define terms as they arise and use examples to make the reporting process easier to see.

A careful reading

Our approach is sceptical without assuming bad faith. A missing detail may reflect limits of time, access or space; it is not, by itself, proof of intent. We compare claims with their attribution and surrounding context, avoid presenting uncertainty as certainty and keep analysis separate from professional or official advice.

Our view

A headline is a starting point, not a verdict.

We examine how regional reporting is made and read, paying attention to sources, framing and what remains uncertain.
