Editorial policy
Eastern News Review aims to explain reporting choices accurately and fairly. We make the distinction between what is known, what is attributed and what remains unclear visible to readers.
Accuracy and verification
We check names, terminology, quotations and factual statements against material available to the editorial process, and make clear when a point is an interpretation rather than a settled fact. We do not invent sources, events, people or evidence. Where a subject is disputed or uncertain, we describe that uncertainty rather than smoothing it away.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for reader value and relevance to the publication's subject. A contributor, advertiser or prospective partner does not receive the right to determine editorial conclusions. We avoid presenting a claim as independently established merely because a party has supplied it.
Corrections
If a reader identifies a factual error or a material omission, they can send details through the Contact page. We review specific, verifiable concerns and correct published material when warranted. Significant changes should be described clearly so readers can tell what was revised; a correction does not erase the original mistake from accountability.
Paid and partner material
Paid or partner material is labelled clearly as such, and kept distinct from independent editorial coverage. A placement does not imply endorsement of every claim made by its provider. We do not describe a commercial arrangement as editorial reporting.
A headline is a starting point, not a verdict.
We examine how regional reporting is made and read, paying attention to sources, framing and what remains uncertain.
